A former bank teller has admitted to stealing thousands of dollars in cash from her own drawer. Former Western Bank employee Kelsie Marie Karr was caught by her manager last year after flagging a cash shortage in her drawer, reports ABC 7 News. When questioned, Karr admitted that she had been stealing cash from her drawer. Court documents show that Karr started taking money from the drawer in May 2025, but managed to conceal her actions using force balancing. “She made it appear her cash drawer was in balance when, in fact, it was not due to the money she had embezzled.” Force balancing is a fraudulent practice where a bank employee alters, manipulates or falsifies bank records to make the cash drawer balance with system totals at the end of the day, even if the amount is over or short.
