47,876 Americans Warned After Hackers Hit NYSE-Listed Firm, Placing Personal and Financial Data at Risk

A Minnesota-based financial services firm with $1.7 trillion in assets under management has suffered a second security incident in a span of less than six months. According to a report submitted by Ameriprise Financial (NYSE: AMP) to the office of the Maine Attorney General, the latest breach happened on March 2nd and was discovered on March 18th. The incident affected 47,876 people. In a notice of data breach sent on April 17th, Robert Severson of Ameriprise’s Global Privacy Office tells affected individuals that the incident may have exposed their name, address, date of birth, account numbers and social security number.
